NACOS Platinum Integrated Navigation System Receives DNV Type Approval for Full 460-Network Cyber-Secure Compliance under IACS E27

NACOS Marine announces that its NACOS Platinum Integrated Navigation System (INS) has received DNV Type Approval for Security Profile 1in accordance with IEC 61162-460 Edition 3, which is accepted by IACS as an alternative standard under UR E26/E27.
This certification confirms that NACOS Platinum is approved as a full IEC 61162-460- Integrated Navigation System and meets the current maritime cybersecurity standards. It shows that the system demonstrates cyber resilience and reliable network performance and is suitable for vessels with the DNV Cyber Secure (Essential) class notation.
The NACOS Platinum INS delivers:
· Protection for navigation-critical data flows such as radar, ECDIS and track control
· Dedicated network monitoring and management for the full INS
· Secure and interoperable communication between all IEC 61162-460 nodes
· Enhanced resilience against cyber threats targeting onboard navigation systems
· A future-ready architecture aligned with IEC, IACS and IMO cybersecurity frameworks
These features support vessels seeking improved protection against cyber risks, enhanced network integrity and resilient bridge system architecture.
Cyber security is now a core element of safe ship operations. Integrated navigation systems must operate with high integrity as vessels become more connected. By achieving IEC 61162-460 approval, NACOS Marine supports shipyards and owners in meeting the cyber-security demands of today and the digitalised fleet of tomorrow.
“We are pleased to collaborate with NACOS Marine and to award this Type Approval for their integrated navigation system. This achievement marks an important step in strengthening cyber resilience for maritime operations and demonstrates how technical innovation and regulatory alignment can support the industry’s digital transformation. We look forward to continued partnership as cybersecurity standards evolve.” – Dr. Jörg Rebel, Senior Principal Engineer - Bridge Systems, TA/MED Electrical, Automation & Navigation Systems DNV.
“Receiving 460-Network approval for an Integrated Navigation System is a major milestone for NACOS Marine. It reflects our commitment to secure, reliable bridge systems.” Thomas Heldarskard-Winnerskjold, Group CEO, NACOS Marine.
This certification supports NACOS Marine’s role in providing advanced navigation technology. It enables shipyards and shipowners to address evolving cybersecurity requirements in the maritime industry.
